Our customs - Leslie Baldeón

Dear Bryan,

I'm so excited for your visit ! Social customs in a new country can be confusing, so I'd like to explain a few things.

Making direct eye contact is common in this country,so don't be afraid if someone talks to you making eye contact with you. Also, we use a short personal space when we talk to someone, but we try not to disturb the other person.

When you meet a girl, it's usual to give her a kiss on her cheek and when you meet a boy, it's customary to shake hands. Don't forget that greeting someone when you get somewhere is very appropriate.

I would like to talk to you about eating habits. We don't eat with chopsticks and we don't sit on the floor. We use cutlery and we sit on a chair . If you go to a restaurant , it's common to make special food requests, and you can leave a tip if you want.

I think that's all. We will have fun when you are here.

See you soon !
