Nelson Mandela was one of the world's most important politician and a strong leader for many people. He gave his life to the South Africans people and the increase of his country.


Mandela was born in Qunu, South Africa in 1918. His first language was Xhosa. His parents was Gadla Henry Mphakanyiswa and Nonqaphi Nosekeni Fanny. Also, he had three sisters. He started to work when he only was a child. He herded family's cattle. Mandela studied at mission school called Union Colleague of Fort Hare. After, he studied law in Johannesburg. His favorite music was classical music like Handel and Tchaikovsky and he liked the sunset, next the afternoons.


In 1942, he joined African National Congress (ANC), a movement to fight against the oppression of black South Africans. In 1952, he was a Youth League Secretary, after, in 1952, he was a Deputy Head of ANC. But in 1963, he was sentenced to life term for anti-government activities in the Robben Island prison; released after 27 years. He followed to fight for the freedom and the changes in his country. He became in President of ANC in 1991. His goal was to end the unjust system of apartheid in South Africa. In 1993, he got Nobel Peace Prize and one year after he was elected president of South Africa. He was the first democratically president by 62% of vote.


Nelson Mandela has inspired people around the world. His thought and dreams changed the South Africans style life. His efforts have made the world better for South Africa and people.
