NELSON MANDELA
Nelson Mandela was president of South Africa in 1994-1999, elected with 62% of votes.
Nelson Mandela was born on July 18, 1918 in Qunu, South Africa. His parents are Gadla and Nodekeni and he had 3 sisters. His native language is Xhosa. His favorite music is Classical. His first job was herding family's cattle when he was 5. He studied at the mission school, then moved to Union College of Fort Hare and studied law in Johannesburg. Nelson Mandela was married three times, first in 1994 with Evelyn Ntoko, after Winnie Madikizela in 1958 and finally in 1998 with Graca Machel. In 1942, Nelson Mandela joined the African National Congress (ANC) and in 1947 ,was elected Youth League Secretary, then in 1952 was a Deputy Head of ANC and finally in 1991 was elected President of the ANC, the objective of ANC was end the unjust system of apartheid in South Africa. Nelson Mandela was sentenced to life term for anti-government activities, but released after 27 years in February 11, 1990. In 1993 he won the Nobel Peace Prize. After retirement he raised money for children's charities.
