Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela is one of the most memorable presidents of South Africa. He is peaceful, righteous and has many achievements in his life.
Mandela was born in Qunu, South Africa on July 18, 1918. His first language is Xhosa. His parents were Gadla and Nodekeniand he had three sisters. When he was 5 years old, he had his first job herding family's cattle. Mandela studied in mission school and Union College of Fort Hare, and finally he studied law in Johannesburg. His favorite music is classical such as Handel and Tchaikovsky and his favorite time of day is sunset.
In 1942 Mandela joined African National Congress (ANC), and inn 1944 he got married with Evely Ntoko. In 1947 he was Yotuh League secretary and in 1952 he was Deputy Head of ANC, time later in 1958 he got married again with Winnie Madikizela. He was sentenced to life term for anti-government activities and he was released after 27 years, February 11 ,1990. A year later he was President of ANC, the goal of ANC was to end the unjust system of apartheid in South Africa. In 1993 he got the Nobel Peace Prize.
In 1994 he was the first democratically elected president of South Africa with 62% of vote. In the same year he wrote his autobiography Long Walk to Freedom. In 1998 he got married with Graca Machel.
Nelson Mandela is a example to follow, as we can see he had many achievements in his life. And now he raised money for children's charities.
