COMPARISON/CONTRAST ESSAY ON TRIBAL/PORTRAIT TATTOOS
For decades tattoing has been a human way of expressing the self painted in the body, while having most of the time meaningful ink draws it is important to differ the type of picture between two important techniques to achieve the desired painting, first we have the classic portrait tattoo and the other one is the tribal tattoo.
First the portrait classic tattoo is mainly a well painted image very similar to a common drawing, here the shadows and black/grey levels are very important to get the right image, for the tattoer needs to be an experienced drawer it is also neccesary to get a high resolution pre-visualized picture for the work to be well done.
Second we have the tribal tattoo which is named after a cultural tribe in new zealand where all the people got tattoed at a certain age, this was mainly for identification purposes. The tribal tattoo is mainly a full black lines design which not commonly shows an image but a symbol that can have a deeper meaning even than visual images.
Talking about visual images, the portrait tattoos usually are drawn for personal view, since their image size doesnt'allow to be seen or interpreted if not close to the tattoo, so this causes not a esthetic image seen from the external third person view, this is logically not important but states a difference between the portrait tattoos and the tribal ones.
On the other hand, The tribal tattoos do work as external images, while not showing a known meaningful picture by the others, it adheres to the full body view, which most of the times "fits" well as a cool body editing which is getting more popular nowadays.
Finally, Tattoos are widely accepted by the massive, for the importance remains in the meaning and the type of image that will be inked. Personally I decided to grab both of them, the portrait one in the right arm and the tribal in the left, for sure the meaning and the quality of the images were the most important decision as tattoos can never get deleted.
